“Passion for Performance” – international campaign for explido
Thursday, September 22nd, 2011Finally it’s out! And we are excited! The image campaign for explido has been presented today at Dmexco 2011!
The mission was to translate explido’s new claim “passion for performance” into visuals that could convey their personality and commitment. So the decision to search for our models and themes within the explido team was natural and absolutely inspiring. With a big casting, lots of preparations and location scouting, 5 shooting days and about 5000 pictures to select from, it was one huge project as well as a great journey.
Thanks guys for doing this with me, it was a pleasure to work with all of you!
For more information on the concept & background of the whole campaign, go to the explido homepage (in german).
Here’s the making-of trailer, followed by the 14 campaign pictures:

“New Talent” of VOGUE ITALIA: “In Bloom” pt. I
Thursday, May 19th, 2011Some may know by now that I am currently featured in the May Issue of Vogue Italia in the “New Talents” section with the picture above. Those who didn’t, well they know now!
Butterflies are having quite of a hype lately, though this project was born long before and it took a lot of time from the concept to its realization. And despite its title ‘In Bloom’, it surely is no happy spring tale.
The idea came across as I was studying the mise-en-scène of fashion design in the ’90s, where the spectacle often bared an element of horror, balancing opposite extremes in a way that takes us straight back to baroque imagery. Realizing that such memento mori would no longer shock anybody today, I wanted to revive this ambiguity of beauty/decadence, life/death as something natural, if not even obvious.
I hope you’ll enjoy this first bunch of picture, I’m going to post some more in the next days.
My thanks go to the amazing crew who made this possible:
Models: Julia G., Anna H. & Richard C. (all @ TUNE Models)
Butterfly-Styling: Lorand Lajos
Make-Up&Hair: Daniela Schatz @ LJ Models & Maren Endrass
Styling: Patrick Sonberger @ TUNE Artists
Art Direction: Chiara Padovan & Thomas Sing
Supported by and shot at the THOMAS WITT FOUNDATION, Munich
And thanks again to all who supported me and my work and made this feature in Vogue Italia a dream come true!

Friday, January 21st, 2011Poetry Takes Form
Monday, January 3rd, 2011As you may remember from the making-of post, I was shooting the ads for my friend Stephen Delattre’s choreography in Mainz last october.
The premiere of POETRY TAKES FORM will be on March 11, 2011 in Mainz, and I strongly recommend you to watch it. I could get a glimpse into the neoclassic and modern scenes during our shoot and it promises to be an outstanding mix of romance, tragedy, love, melancholy, harmony & provocation.
And this is one of seven scenes that they will perform:

Dancers (ballet of the Staatstheater Mainz): Cristina Ayllón, Antonin Comestaz, Stéphen Delattre, Martyn Garside, Anne Jung, Prêle Mainfroy
